Religilous

I've never been the one to go against religion. In fact I have had my awkward teenage year phases where I was WAY to religious. I wanted to prove that something that was so not real, was genuine. I needed something to believe in at that time.

And I get that. People in general need something to believe in. They need the feeling that there's a point to this sometimes dragged out existence, and hopefully it's better than what is going on in your life now.

But to me, religion seems to wear the mask of an excuse. Like it's used to get out of being at fault. For example, "I'm putting it in god's hands." translation "If it doesn't happen, it's not my fault." I find that completely ridiculous. How lazy is that? That's like saying, "If I don't get that promotion, or that job, or food this month for my kids, it's because some mythical being is telling me through physical means that I'm not supposed to feed my kids. I'm not supposed to advance in life. He wants me to be the same cracked out person I've been since I started believing in him."

And so what if I'm wrong. So what if I won't get into heaven because I slander all that is good and holy. Who is it hurting? me. That's who. I am my own person, I make decisions for myself, I eat, dress, earn money, pay my bills all by myself. The only one I'd be hurting if I stopped any of that, is myself. I'd starve to death, I'd die from the cold, I wouldn't be able to pay my bills, and I'd probably end up going to jail and getting beaten up for not believing in jesus.

The funny part about all of this, is that I grew up mormon. Now, most of you already are saying, "whoa, that's crazy, I can understand why she doesn't believe in a deity." There's a lot of two-faced crazy crap that happens when mormon's are around or not around, sometimes.

Sure, if you're mormon, you're probably screaming at me, trying to get across the point that you're not really crazy, and mormon's are not two-faced. And you're right. There are some very very wonderful mormons. Ones that you know are mormon because of how nice they are, but you really hope to any type of higher power that they aren't. Because it would be almost tragic to know. My cousins for example. The best family I can think of, the nicest I know too. I want so bad for them not to believe in that sort of stuff, but they do.

I don't knock them on it though, I let them be who they want to be as long as they share the same courtesy.

But I have to tell you, I was never an orthodox mormon, so maybe that's why it all escaped me, but there is some crazy stuff that makes me glad that they forgot my number and my existence at the church.

I'm not saying that you shouldn't be religious. By all means, if that's what gets you through the day as a sane person, then use it!! But if you do it for social means or listen to what the evil half of your head is saying, thinking it's the holy spirit/ghost, please, don't listen and get new friends. You'll have a better outcome if you believe in chocolate and daily exercise. That sure makes me feel better.

Because, if you say that you did something that was illegal because god/muhammad/joseph smith/Jose Luis de Jesus Miranda/etc told you to do it, I have no sympathy for the results of your actions.

I guess you can pray for me, hope that my life is not ended in the madness that satan encourages, but know this: that my version of satan is summed up in just one song. Look it up, it's Beelz aka satan song by Stephen Lynch.

After you listen to that, you'll know I think that's a bunch of bologna too. The only place I expect to go when I die is six feet under the ground.

I don't smoke, I don't drink(often) I don't kill kittens or choke kids (although I imagine it if they're really horrible) I'm a normal person, who happens to not believe in a god.

I loved the movie Religilous, I found it perfect. I wish they had the most hated family in America on there too, that would have been wonderful to see Bill Maher go toe to toe with them. He would have just laughed in their faces. I would too if I wasn't afraid of them shooting me for laughing. Only gays laugh, and their sadistic god hates gays that they make.

Another topic, another time, another controversy.

P.S. People are being stupid about this movie. Seriously? No, seriously? How many movies to we get about the opposition of religion. Or the ridiculous concepts some of them come up with?!

Right, and how many movies do religions posses? I'm betting a lot more.

I've been reading a lot of blogs on other sites and I noticed that one: people are quoting FROM THE BIBLE! You can't do that if you're trying to convince someone that you or it is not cuckoo.

Another thing is that people have been posting that atheists are full of hate and they're horrible and they probably kill little children and laugh about it, etc. I don't hate. I don't kill children. I may be horrible sometimes, but who isn't?

One more common post is that we atheists are pushing non-religion onto those that are religious and the religious people are only "sharing" their blessings.

Bullshit. I called it. You can't sit there and pretend that what you are doing is so much better than it is. I have been hounded and manipulated and lied to in order to get to church, and not just one church. Many. One big lie is the bible itself. I don't trust it and you can't use that to convince me.

I've seen "true Christians" lie, cheat, steal to my face, even after I've caught them in the act they deny it.

And it's not just one two or three even. It's just about every believer I know.

To me, that makes me wonder why I'd want to be a part of something that uses the facade of religion to cover up their true self. To rape children, to manipulate others to get ahead in their career, or to push religion on you so much that you just say "okay" to shut them up.

There is a minority here that I haven't talked about and I think it's only fair to speak about both sides.

Those that truly believe in being a good person (not for further advancement in their life) or realize that not everyone is going to have the same thoughts or belief as them so they don't push it. Thank you to those rare few.

I honestly think that Bill Maher had a really good variety of people on the movie. Now, it would have been interesting to throw in some of the other religions, but I understand why it was the large ones.

There were some people on there that made some valid points. They really did, and had I been any less decided, I may have looked into it. But Bill Maher had some valid points as well.

And we as non-believers have wanted so badly to ask some of the questions he asked and I for one am very happy to see them done, and not by me. Not because I'm afraid of the debate, but because I really do not want to get into a 17 hour long one-sided discussion about it, especially when I'm not allowed to get heated but the religious is.

Anyway, if anything, I'm for the cannabis religion, and if it's a religion, it's not illegal right?!
