busy busy weekend

so... last weekend I made a short trip to Idaho to visit the sister in college and take photos of my cousin's newborn. pictures here:

It was a 2-1/2 hour drive from Rexburg to Twin Falls. I arrived an hour later than I was expecting, then Jeana and I left an hour later than I told Kim we would. Really good at being on time we are :). I even gave ourselves an extra half hour. But we needed some things from the store to survive the trip out there.

The drive was beautiful. Jeana hates it, but I absolutely love the brown, the oranges, the different greens and yellows of the trees. It was pretty cold over there, but I still wore my flip flops :D. It was great bonding time for Jeana and I.

My phone died a couple times and we needed it for our navigation... and since my car was taken in to the shop before I left, I accidental left my car charger in there. We stopped twice to charge my phone, and in the end, it died before we got to their house.

Kim and Travis made us some Drunken Noodles (Thai), which was really good, spicy but good. then we played Settlers. I lost awesomely, and we played for houuuurs. Jeana and I were way loopy by the end of the night and were being really weird and giggly :).

We convinced Jonathan and Sevi that Jeana came to Cali instead of me going to Idaho. They're so dorky. and stupid ;p.

Baby Allie was really really cute. I only held her once. I would have held her more, but I needed to keep my restraint intact so I don't bug Craig. It's getting harder every day. But I want to make sure we have our checklist done before we go down that road. And I need to make sure that I'm not doing it to get out of working, because that could be a huge contributing factor to why I want babies. I think 23 or 24 is way too young to have babies. I mean, whatever for other people, but at 23 or 24, it just seems way too young! There's so much that Craig and I can do! I mean, this year, we're taking a road trip somewhere to get out of our apartment (just because). We're flying up to Seattle for Christmas (poor kitties have to stay with hopefully our neighbors checking on them... still have to ask). Next year, we're going to Disney World/Islands of Adventure (mainly for Harry Potter World!), going to Oregon for my family reunion, going on a cruise for Craig's family reunion, then back up to Seattle! Then in 2012, I want to plan a family reunion for the other side of my family at a dude-ranch! Because that side would love it. maybe we could add Craig's family in it. There's only a few of them anyway. Or at least his parents, they definitely deserve a lot of vacations.

Anyway... among our vacations we need new cars, to build our house, invest in business opportunities, build my photography business. We have a lot of goals and dreams. Babies require work and money and time. All of which we don't have to spare. I mean, we're not hurting for any of them, but in order to stay sane and keep our minds focused and clear, we need to avoid being halted by kids. Because that's what would happen. We'll have them when we're ready!

Well, since I not-so-successfully talked myself back in to our original feeling of no-kids... I'll finish our weekend! lol

The second day we were there we took photos of Allie. She was so cooperative during the whole thing, and she looked fantastic on camera (and then on my computer later). It was raining so we couldn't do the outside stuff, so we stayed inside and used what we had (makes me long for a studio to keep all those really neat and random things...oh wellz).

I took Jeana to the mall for the first time in a long time! I got her two shirts and bought myself two pairs of pants (they make my butt look awesome) and an extremely pretty sweater. It felt good to buy nice things rather than cheap. But it also felt bad, since I was paying more than I usually do. I don't buy pants very often though, so I don't feel bad.

As Jeana and I were leaving Twin Falls, Idaho we came across one of those rare, beautiful and unexpected finds. Of course, those in Twin Falls are used to this, but in the middle of nothing but farmland and wide open space, something like this is a shocker.

See what I mean by pretty colors?! It was raining out all weekend, but we got a down time for long enough to get the pictures.

so we travel back to the BYU Idaho campus. We talked about David (Archuleta... and how he's buying me 30 horses), boys, relationships, etc etc. (I talked about it further on my other blog: http://www.deitering.blogspot.com/). We ate pizza and cheeseeeee bread stuff (mmmm).

Back on campus, I got the rare opportunity to realize that I'm not made for college life anymore. I've past that opportunity and I don't feel bad. I just don't like the dorm feel any longer. I don't wonder what it would be like if I went to school and live in the dorms (of course, I couldn't be married then). It was so boring! lol. I mean, there were 4 other girls there, but it was still extremely dreary and sadface. Maybe it's because the weather wasn't awesome, but either way, it was good to get that stupid thought out of my head.

I did sneak a coffee in to campus!! And I kept saying "Oh my gosh"... we had to switch it to "Oh my Buddha" but I kept forgetting. Jeana had to yell at me several times. lol.

I thought I saw Kenny Rogers at the SLC airport, but I could be wrong. (Probably am!)

Sammy texted me over the weekend and asked if I could take photos of her when I come up next and of course I told her "I'd love to shoot you!" lol. in photography language! hehehe.

I like how my pictures are coming out. I'm not amazing, but I'm pleasantly surprised by it all! I got my "Get the Picture" Scholarship Fundraiser cards came in! I'm putting together a fundraiser for Miss Sacramento County including my photography to give them more scholarship dollars. And it gets my business and name out there in to a broader group of people! I'm really excited to start it. Which means I have to get my business license first. Which means I have to switch my social security card to say Deitering instead of Andersen, and get a new drivers license before I attempt to pretend to know what I'm doing when applying for a business license. Yep... I really hope I can keep busy with photography enough to do that full time. Then that's one cross off for furthering Craig's and my life together :D
